You need to use `FreeFem++-mpi`, not `FreeFem++`, see, e.g., [Hydrodynamic Stability Implementation in FreeFEM - #4 by prj](https://community.freefem.org/t/hydrodynamic-stability-implementation-in-freefem/622/4).
